Members will no doubt be aware of the continuing current activity.

Following the above statement, we wrote to David Cameron, in conjunction with, and in support of BSSC, as did HASG. See attached letter.

We are in continuing contact with MEPs and FESAC and colleagues in Europe.

It is not an easy matter to deal with the reaction that has occurred in the wake of the tragic Paris shootings and to secure a balanced, considered, outcome for legitimate shooters and collectors.

We have said that we remain concerned that this an issue of over-regulation of legal shooters and collectors, to no real effect, whilst the core issue of illegal arms and terrorism is not being addressed as robustly as it might.

Needless to say the detailed issues are being addressed with the Home Office and interested parties both through BSSC, and direct.

We are in a discussion and information gathering stage and will keep you informed as the issue develops.

May I take this opportunity to wish all members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year
