Thanks to the efforts of Neil Francis and Caron Ashworth we have 30 great photos of the event ten days ago on Winans.

The photos via here, they are all Public:

Neil has also put the photos into a sideshow engine. It's on the link above and here:

As with all things social it is public and shareable, so feel free to
share/copy/point people to etc.

I hope you enjoy them, tell others and all come along in August 2016 with your old rifles!

HBSA resurrected this event last year at short notice. It is traditionally timed to coincide with the main NSRA August event at Bisley Camp, and used to be run on the Century Range at 50 metres distance. The move to the restored Winans range (the old Pistol Gallery) has the advantage of a sound roof and 14 firing points, but is only 25 yards long.

After last year’s ‘quick & dirty’ event, which went quite well, the courses of fire were adjusted slightly and a simple signing-on system put in place. There is no pre-booking of slots, and payment is made on the day.

We had 45 competitors this year, of whom 25 were HBSA members. They shot 187 events, or an average of four classes each. Many tried the “supported standing” option, and several competitors achieved scores of 140/ 140 on the two inch bullseye. Lots of fascinating old rifles came out of the cupboard, including Vickers Martinis, Walther semi-automatic bolt actions, rolling blocks, a Jurek, a BSA Ralock and several nice rook rifles. Scope sights were allowed but provided little advantage.

Entry fees and overheads were kept to a minimum, but the event will make a useful contribution to HBSA funds. We also should expect to gain a couple of new members.
