Midland Rook & Rabbit Rifle Competition 4th October 2014

Dear Competitors

Thank you for competing in this our 9th Annual Midland Rook and Rabbit competition. The Results can be found here.

We were once again privileged to be able to use the range at Stourport on Severn which is an excellent venue; it provides a covered firing point with plenty of room with a separate range for the muzzle loading match.

I would very much like to thank the Committee and Members of Stourport on Severn Rifle club for allowing us the use of their range, and their continued support.

The weather this year was not up to our usual standard, prior to the start we had heavy rain and poor light but as we started the rain eased and the light gradually improved and developed into a warm sunny afternoon.

This year saw a slight increase in the turnout, with 21 competitors competing in nine disciplines, with a total of 78 match entries.

We were again fortunate to have the services of John Vining who acted as RO throughout the entire day. He kept us on our toes but not rushed and everything ran extremely well and to schedule.

Scoring was done by Mike & Linda Welsh with some minor input from myself.

I notable achievement was that Gary Bowden scored a possible 140 in the “Severn” using a Ruger 10/22

Chris Gray very kindly supplied hot drinks, cakes and biscuits in aid of the MacMillan Fund and raised about £25.

I hope everyone had a good day and that we see you all next year: Stourport on Severn 3rd October 2015

Best Regards

Paul Smith
