Tell your MP about the value of shooting

posted 28 Jul 2014, 15:19 by Tony Cattermole   [ updated 28 Jul 2014, 15:44 ]

Help to spread the word to your MP about the economic, environmental and social value of shooting. You will have heard about the latest PACEC report which identifies the economic benefits of shooting. Whilst it has a bias towards quarry shooting, it is, nevertheless a comprehensive review of shooting sports and their significant role in the UK today. MPs are far more likely to read correspondence from constituents. BASC has set up a website here that makes it easy for you to email “The Value of Shooting” report, published earlier this month, to your MP.

The report is the largest ever survey of shooting in the UK and it contains important information that we want politicians to appreciate. Your MP should know that:

• Shooting is worth £2 billion to the UK economy

• Shoot providers spend £250 million a year on conservation

• Shooters spend 3.9 million work days on conservation – equivalent to 16,000 full-time jobs.

We think that most MPs don’t appreciate how important shooting is to the economy, conservation and rural communities.

Help us to put them right. You can find the website and email your MP here>>>
